Independence is usually defined in terms of freedom from - arbitrary exercise of another's power, exercise of political control by an unrepresentative person or group.
As with an individual who reaches maturity and autonomy, a nation's best celebration of its independence is the freedom to encourage others in that goal by precept and example without force or manipulation based on self-centered objectives.
May America become and remain such a nation.
