Gladys Horton passed away this week. As a students' council president at a small school in the early 1960s I used to organize sock hops. Anyone still remember those? This was the start of MoTown and I loved the sound. The Marvelettes received much play at the dances, including this one.

DCW - sock hops - I have a vague recollection. I too loved the Motown sound. That was such an interesting era for music, with the influence of Motown effecting all genres of music. Rest in peace, Gladys.

Sock hops, where I secretly hoped a boy might ask me to dance and lived in fear that it might actually happen.
