Tsonoqua

As a child
I heard you in the night
you breathed the wind of fear
from out there
somewhere

-
I hid
was silent
deserving your anger
you would
eat me
-

Years later
 your sunken eyes
flash at the winter dances
"Ho, ho!" your voice sounds
only need and anguish
-

I feel you within
dancing now
not from fear
but sadness

WOW! Beautifully haunting, and sad. Fear evolving into sadness with time and maturity. Somehow, I feel that sadness is the more painful of the two emotions.
