Most of us who have lived long enough have both made missteps as well as been hurt in relationships and lived through the consequences. Some of us (particularly men) have been less than elegant in our coping during these periods, preferring at the time that they pass without notice and subsequently having little desire to re-examine our vulnerability even privately, let alone to share it openly.
Not so Philip Lee. In a startlingly honest memoir of the first year and the time following the ending of his marriage he chronicles the painful process of accepting loss, attempting to maintain bonds with his children, gaining in personal strength and allowing the gradual growth of trust and optimism that permits living fully and happily.
This book resonates; it is immensely readable; it lingers after the final page is read.
