It is all about priorities, isn't it? Why would any self-respeting government concern itself with the health, education and welfare of its constituents when there is money to be made, and wars to be waged?
The image on your post reminds me of the Mad Max movies. Or, perhaps more like the imagery in the book "The Road." We are destroying the planet, and it is becoming a world of "every man/woman for him/herself."
