A remarkable story. To what extent should the requirements of justice be animated by the spirit of compassion?

A remarkabel story indeed. Most commonly, we hear only stories of progressive violence, drug addiction and gang recruitment in the prison system. It is seldom thought of a reformative environment.

This story speaks so highly of not only an individual who utilized her very dark, negative situation to transform herself, but I think that it also speaks highly of the corrections personnel who clearly helped to facilitate her growth and development.

Thank you for sharing this "feel good" story. It really is proof that we are all capable of rising above the most dire circumstances and learning from the challenges that we are faced with.
