Just the River

Simply a brief pause for reflection on a workday walk.  The new regime of being a little more active, a little more engaged, gives a momentary glimpse of something unexpected. Thoughts of arrival cease as do concerns of matters to be accomplished. Past criticisms fall silent, future plans are forgotten. There is just the river, but such a river.

Those before me have stood here as will others after I have passed. They too have said and will say, "This is so constant; I am so fleeting.  The green breeze is cool and sweet; the sun on the leaves is promise. I know not the source or the destination;  I see but the flow of this place and moment."

It is just the river, but such a river.

so serene...love the pause...the reflection of all the others that have been here and those still coming...and the constancy of the river...well done...

Don't push the river (does that filter through your stream of consciousness?)
